SISTERON 2024 Mon 22 Apr 24

Whilst the stalwarts are back in UK holding the fort at Shawbury, R22 and the RSGC gang, as part of the RAFGSA exped “Parcours Combattants”, have made it over the Channel.

They made an overnight stop in Beaune, a walled town at the centre of the Burgundy winemaking region in France and surrounded by the Côte d'Or vineyards.  Apparently, the trailer can hold a stack of vino and they will be loading up to bring back for us on the return trip.

BTW, just to answer one joker’s question, all the gliders are in their trailers, none have flown to Sisteron, although we could set the challenge for next year🤔

R22 has now arrived at Sisteron and the team have rigged it for its first sortie into the Alps tomorrow.  Ian is acting as the Deputy CFI, supported by club members Norm, Alan (back from the USA) and Alun.  Also attending for his first sortie into the French Alps is Connor, one of our 2023 MEF gliding scholarship students.

Accommodation – they’re slumming it this year!

Aerial shots to follow tomorrow (weather permitting.). R22 is broadcasting and you can follow progress on .  https://www.flightradar24.com/44.29,5.87/12 and https://live.glidernet.org/#c=44.27223,5.93975&z=12&s=1
