Funding Opportunities

Whether you’re working towards going solo, embarking on your first cross-country flights or becoming an instructor, there are a number of schemes to enable you to achieve more by helping with your flying fees

Service personnel can access bursaries and awards from the likes of the Malcolm Club, through the RAFGSA, and our Mechanics’ Endowment Fund Gliding Bursaries, funded by the RAF Central Fund. Ask us at the club for more details on these schemes

Junior ranks service personnel can apply for a Mechanics’ Endowment Fund Gliding Bursary here and can find more details about Go Solo funding here

There are a number of publicly available funding opportunities, mostly aimed at younger glider pilots. You can find a list of the main sources of funding on the British Gliding Association’s Junior Gliding website

Some of the schemes are designed for particular goals or have certain selection criteria, so do look at the details before you apply
