See us at the RAF Cosford Air Show on Sun 12 Jun 22

The club are delighted to have been asked to perform an aerobatics display at the RAF Cosford Air Show on Sun 12 Jun 22. Those of you who were at Shawbury on Thu 2 Jun 22 would have seen CFI and accomplished aerobatics instructor, Ian Gallacher, practicing his super routine in preparation for his display.

With Alan Swan flying the tug WG , one of our two-seat K21 gliders, R35, will depart RAF Shawbury on aero-tow to reach a height of 3,000ft and then hold off short of RAF Cosford.  Our aerobatics display is 2nd in the scheduled Air Show programme, immediately after the RAF Falcons Free Fall Parachute team have completed their display.

Once cleared, R35 will release from WG at 3,000ft directly over the airfield for the display and, on completion of his routine, Ian will land on r’way 06/24 followed by WG.  They will hook up and then depart back to RAF Shawbury.

If you see them enroute or at the Air Show give them a wave.  If you’re visiting the Air Show come and see us on our stand near Hangar 1 where a group of our young RAF aviators led by Mike H will be delighted to let you take the controls of a single seat glider R66.  If you’re feeling a little more adventurous, and for that all important selfie moment, then try your flying skills by attempting a loop in the British Gliding Association two-seat gliding simulator which will also be on the same stand. We’ve also invited friends from the Midland Gliding Club, with whom we enjoy reciprocal membership, to join us on the stand.

If you can’t see the display you can listen to the display commentary on Cosford FM broadcasting on 87.9 MHz FM.

We look forward to seeing you on our stand at the show.
