A busy day with a large number of student pilots on the airfield and for whom there was, yet again, no cake from #vulcanbomber with which to feed the hungry gannets!
In sunny but blustery conditions with a sporty crosswind we set up on r’way 36…….
……and first away was new MEF gliding bursary student Amir. Hope that you enjoyed your introduction to flying using just nature’s energy Amir.
Lewis continues his solo progress, taking another solo trip after a check flight with Alan. Good work Lewis in a testing crosswind.
It is strange that when you need some pushing and shoving, our youngsters are nowhere to be seen!!
Highlight of the day was Army Will completing his general skills test with Simon and in the process completing his Sailplane Pilot Licence (SPL) Training Course., and this on the last day on which he could fly prior to commencing his helo driver’s course at Shawbury. Top job Will
It was at this point that given the windspeed and crosswind component it was decided to change runway to 22. We were amazed to discover that for the past 3 years whilst Alan has been away, we had parked the bus in the wrong place on 22!!!
Less of a cross wind on 22 but still testing…..
Whilst out young students took their turn to get airborne…..
….the K13 JMJ was pushed on to the launch point for its only trip of the day in improving conditions with thermals to 5,000ft.
Lat flight of the day went to Jack who had organised us and run the launch point all day. Many thanks Jack.
With so many students it was disappointing that they only managed two trips each during the day but thanks to all for your hard work and perseverance in acheiving 26 launches and over 12 hours of flying time.
