Flying Report Sun 27 Ser 26. High winds brought an early end to flying
Looking at the forecast from Thursday onward it was touch and go whether we would fly at all today. Visitors were cancelled and a flu bug at RAF Cosford saw only one student turn up to try his luck. So, it was just a small number who gathered at RAF Shawbury. However, and most importantly, cake had returned courtesy of Mrs #vulcanbomber. There was a slight delay to the start as the RAC sorted out an issue wiht the tug tailwheel……
……whilst the rest set up on r’way 18. The front could be seen approaching from the South West, the wind was picking up and there was rain in the air.
Cloud base was around 2,000ft and it was turbulent with plenty of rotor indicative of the Wave conditions above.
There were holes and if you could find one, Ian and Nigel were the only ones who did during an instructor check flight……
…..then you could enjoy the Wave conditions above.
Just nine aerotows were completed before the wind became out of limits. Disappointing for those who did turn up today.
