CFI IAN GALLACHER NOMINATED FOR A 2026 RAF SPORT AWARD
The annual RAF Sport Awards (hosted by the RAF Sports Federation in partnership with the RAF Central Fund) are the Royal Air Force's primary event to recognize and celebrate sporting excellence, dedication, and volunteer contribution across all levels of Service sport.
RAF Shawbury Gliding Club are delighted that CFI Ian Gallacher has been nominated for a 2026 RAF Sport Award in the category “Endeavour Award”.
Ian, who holds responsibilty for BGA aerobatics trainng standards, will be supported at the event by Brad Lefley-Kemp, our glider display pilot at the 2026 Cosford Air Show. Laura Martin, an RSGC aerobatics instructor and a member of the GB Glider Aerobatics Team at the 2026 World Championships, will also attend the awards ceremony which take place on 22 October at the RAF Club in London .
The nomination is well deserved recognition of Ian and Laura’s endeavours to ensure that Brad, who started his aerobatics journey with RSGC in January 2026, achieved the standards required to be awarded a CAA Display Authorisation and subsequently to be selected as the 2026 Cosford Airshow glider display pilot.
In recognition of his brilliant display Brad was presented with a Special Commendation by the Air Show organisers.
