Non-Flying Report Sun 1 Jun 25

Another Sunday scrubbed due to winds gusting to 24 kts and a crosswind out of limits for the Falke with its narrow track– anyone got a spare Pawnee or even a winch?  So, it was an admin morning for some whilst Colin and Toby looked after our two young visitors.

Oliver is on the waiting list to join the Air Cadets at Cosford.  Colin took him under his wing (sic!) for ground briefs on the tug and R35.

Meanwhile Welshpool Air Cadet Cameron was shown the ropes by the Vicar

We are really disapponted guys that we could not fly you today and we look forward to seeing you on another occasion with, hopefully, better conditions.

Elsewhere, we dragged the Ex-Dealer Leader’s DG400 truck out of its box and affixed some competition markings on the fin in line with BGA guidance.  For good measure we also placed one under the wing, although when he’ll be back from the US to fly it, heaven knows (and also The Vicar might!)

Absent for the past few weeks has been the ability to provide tea, coffee and hot canapes on the launch point bus.  So, under the guidance of Jack, the generator was removed where a fault was discovered with the starter motor.  Jack, who likes to get stuck into the oily bits, also showed us how to dip the engine oil and transmission fluid levels – not something that can be done with the generator in place. Top job Jack.

Another frustrating day, fingers crossed for 8 Jun.

Club News:

Sun 8 Jun 2025.  With RAF Shawbury not impacted in the usual way by the RAF Cosford Air Show we will be flying next Sunday.

Shawbury Proms and DCASO Events in Hangar 4.  We need to clear Hangar 4 entirely by COP 2 Jul and cannot return until 13 Jul 25.  This probably means clearing the bulk of the hangar by COP Sun 29 Jun.   Further details to follow.
