In a brief window today, with the wind just within limits and the rain on the horizon we achieved 9 launches. Very frustrating.

After the frustration of the last three non-flyingweekends, it was a super day out at Shawbury today.

A booming Bank Holiday Monday with over 10 hours of flying time.

Smashing weather, hard ground, booming thermals – what could be any better? 

Preparing for and then recovering from having to vacate Hangar 4 at Shawbury for a two-week period provided the perfect excuse for club members to spread their wings.

With the end of the Station 75th Anniversary activities in Hangar 4 we regrouped to begin the return to normal flying. 

A day of two distinctly different flavours.  Flying took precedence but hanging over all was the shadow of the need to complete the vacation of Hangar 4.

A blustery and rain affected day, and none of the forecast lift and, sadly, flying ceased at 15:35.

There is nothing more challenging than a group of enthusiastic and inquisitive youngsters and RAF Shawbury Gliding Club were delighted to welcome on Thursday evening an excited group from Shawbury Cubs.

It was disappointing that we only completed 9 launches during the day as we had to scrub at 14:30 due to the strong wind.

Congratulations to Laura on completion of the BGA Assistant Instructor course programme.

Another Sunday scrubbed due to winds gusting to 24 kts and a crosswind out of limits for the Falke.
